Elective surgery

Eye surgery for July 2011–June 2012

Surgery on the eyes is called ophthalmological surgery. This page presents statistics relating to the hospital's performance of elective ophthalmological surgery overall, as well as for a common procedure called a cataract extraction. This procedure removes a lens of the eye affected by a cataract, which is a white substance on the lens that impairs vision. The diseased lens is then replaced with an artificial one in a procedure called 'lens insertion'. This is often done at the same time as the cataract extraction.

Waiting times provide an indication of access to elective surgery. The information presented here refers to the time spent on a waiting list by people who received elective surgery in this hospital between 1 July 2011 and 30 June 2012.
